Glucose Numbers After Meals
What should Glucose numbers be after meals in 15 minute intervals up to the 2 hour range. I know that at 2 hours it should be below 180. Is numbers in the mid 200 15 minutes and 30 minutes to one hour after eating is too high?
When working as a phlebotomist I did many 3-6 hour glucose tests.
Generally we administered 75 gm of sugar by drinking a syrupy drink. Ranges are based on a starting fbs of 95 or lower. (5.3 mmol/L)
Normal Result range as follows
One hour after drinking the glucose solution: lower than 180 mg/dL (10 mmol/L)
Two hours after drinking the glucose solution: lower than 155 mg/dL (8.6 mmol/L)
Three hours after drinking the glucose solution: lower than 140 mg/dL (7.8 mmol/L
We should aim for as close to normal as possible.

Thanks for the information. My diabetes educator asked me to check numbers 15 minutes after eating up to 2 hours.
Thanks again

Thanks you are accurate. I met with the diabetic educator and she wanted to get a clear timeline in 15 increments of how my body responses to food. It was a great session. She was very helpful with explaining the findings and average A1C numbers. She said my numbers were good. Now I have an appointment with my primary doctor on Wednesday. I also plan to do the Diabetic Education class again for added support and to learn more about ways to stabilize the glucose numbers.
Thanks again
I test 120 mins after Dinner and 90 mins after the other three meals.
It’s best not to get too obsessed with BG numbers and how long after as all glucose have a certain amount of inaccuracy in them. Maybe better to look at trends, whether going up or down.
@A DiabetesTeam Member Good to know-I hope someone here can tell you what good numbers are.
I Would Like To Know How Should Be My Glucose Right After Finish Eating. Thank You.
