Some groups state that they are for type 2 diabetics but my worry is that I don't know what the type I have and how one can distinguish between the 2 types?

This site is advertised as a social site for type 2,but all types are welcome. All types are represented here. Problems encountered are the same if treatment differs.Type 1 is usually found at a young age.Your pancreas cannot produce insulin and treatment is insulin. Type 2 is usually diagnosed later in life-but as we are getting fatter, has been found in children as young as 8.Treatment begins by changing diet, then adding tablets, then insulin. Some people go straight on to insulin. Some people never need insulin. There are several other less common types-but 95% of people are type 2.Your doctor should tell you which you are.
