Has Anyone Used Meds To Help Them Lose Weight?
Once again, my Endo offered meds to help me lose weight. I only have 20 more pounds to lose but am struggling mightily. When asked about the toll it would take on my kidneys and liver, he assured me that my kidneys and liver are healthy enough. Maybe I am doing things the hard way. Maybe I should try a med. to make it easier. Maybe I would have to take it for less than 6 months to reach my goal. What have other's experienced, good or bad, about weight loss drugs? i would accept the help-its usually the other way round, doc refusing meds to help lose weight. If people without diabetes can use ozempic for weight loss, then surely you can use whatever is on offer.
Hey Becky, I haven't but if I was in a similar position I would try and weigh all the benefits against any potential side effects from the drug itself
Dropping another 20 pounds would improve insulin resistance putting downward pressure on your blood sugar numbers, your cholesterol and blood pressure would improve even if they were already good. Your future joint health would improve, you would reduce your heart attack and stroke risk as well as a number of cancer risks, you would have more energy and the list goes on
Those weigh pretty heavy over some "maybe" minimal negatives which only tend to last while using the drug
That would be my thinking when considering using the med
I’ve no idea of the success of weight loss drugs especially after say five years.
I lost weight with a very low carb diet. It was sporadic up and down but the trend was always down.
Yes, the food can be boring and often just too much effort to make interesting low carb meals.
But I feel far better now that I’ve lost 3 stone (was 3 stone 5lbs at one time) even if it took me quite some time punctuated with gaps. I still got the bruises from falling off the carb wagon!
If you trust my opinion, I would get a second opinion from a medical professional. Because, kidney damage is what type 2 diabetics have to worry most about & it can come on like a lightning strike when you least expect it. Good luck.
Hi Becky I follow a low carb eating plan and it work sometimes if you have a slow metabolism it took time to lose weight I'm just proud if just lose half a centimeter.
I Am Type 2 Diabetic, I Take Meds But Not Insulin. I Get Sudden And Sharp Stomach Cramps, That Disappear Within An Hour. Is That Common?
