What Kind Of Doctor Can I Ask About The Symptoms I Am Having With My Diabetes? Endocrinologist?
Depends how your medical system works - for me, if I wanted to see an Endo it would have to be referred through my (family) Primary Doctor who would determine if the referral was needed or they could handle the issue
Endo's typically only get involved if the standard guideline treatment, used by just about every doctor in the western world who share guidelines, doesn't work
So start by talking to your primary care Doc and see if you need the services of a "hormone doctor" (Endo) who is really there to figure out "what else is wrong" if the standard treatment plan doesn't work (it does for most diabetics - 80% react to the treatment plan perfectly, it's just those 2 out of 10 diabetics that have "something else" messing with their blood sugar - typically thyroid, pituitary or adrenal gland issues not specifically related to diabetes at all, but can make it act "weird")
Great answer. I will consult my PCP, and could very well refer me to an endocrinologist. My issue is with sexual dysfunction, so I've been seeing my urologist who 'blames' it on my diabetes. I just don't know how 'bad' my diabetes is and how it is affecting my sexual dysfunction.
