Is There A Magic Pill To Fix Diabetes??

A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

Many new members seem to have stopped by recently and inevitably, like we all did, many will let their fingers walk through Google and be bombarded by hundreds trying to sell them the easy, secret cure to Diabetes

Just take this magic pill, produced in a secret underground lab to protect the staff who are being actively hunted by Big Pharma Hit Squads trying to stop them from getting the secret cure out there – of course, if you sign up for the monthly automatic refills, you will save hundreds… read more

@A DiabetesTeam Member I gave up the Apple Cider Vinegar caplets

I was getting a combination ACV/Chromium - it was the chromium I was actually after and when I found a source that was just the chromium I gave up the combo

ACV works by slowing down digestion (Ozempic and that class of drugs do the same thing) so you still get all the carbs, just spread over a longer period of time so you don't spike as "high" but you kinda crest out for maybe an extra hour or so (at least in theory)

I horsed around a bit and didn't find that the ACV was making a great difference in my meals. I took generally before supper to see if I could squeak in say 5 or 10 extra carbs and it really didn't make enough of a difference "for me", but my insulin production is really good and my resistance isn't very high at all - so likely less of a benefit to me in the first place anyhow compared to someone else

I have tried a couple of other supplements over the years including GABA (did nothing of note one way or the other) and Coriander (wicked GI issues - had to stop taking it due to nausea) and maybe a couple others (garlic and cinnamon from the vitamin/supplement companies come to mind)

And I will try others (currently evaluating the Vitamin C specifically for blood sugar), but at least up until now it has only been the Milk Thistle and the Chromium that have consistently shown to provide a "bit" of downward pressure on my average sugars - only in the range of 0.2 or 0.3 mmols (3 - 5 points) but even that little bit of reduction on my fasting numbers takes many of them from one side of that 5.5/99 mark and pushes them to the lower side

So "worth it for me" at least until I start using anti-diabetic meds

I am new to this diabetes thing and already I can see that what Alan has experienced is exactly what is needed. weight-loss, diet and exercise are top of the list. Getting as knowlegable about diabetes makes this path even more obvious. Then seeing what natural supplements could help and finally if that does not control it introduction of meds. I think the key here is to take responsibility for your own health.I have had that told to me before but I did not realise what it meant until I was diagnosed with diabetes.
