Can I Have A Teaspoon Of Sugar In My Coffee And Tea Just Once Each Day?

A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

As I have just been diagnosed, I'm still learning. I don't have a sweet tooth, but I love the foods that turn into sugar: pasta, bread, chips, etc. Staying away from it all is killing me!

Sure, a teaspoon of sugar is about 4 carbs and most of us could handle that, but that is 4 less carbs you could eat somewhere else

Have you tried artificial sweeteners? I think the “ols,” maltilol and Erythritol (Swerve) taste pretty good. Also Stevia tastes good in candy. There are cake mixes, and ice cream, now sweetened with maltilol, I think. They taste good. Not as good as sugar, but, pretty good all in all!
