This has happened to 3 type 2 folks I know

It really shouldn't and heart (effects) are not part of the known side effects

It's a DPP-4 class drug and the only thing it does is (blocks) the hormone (DPP-4) that is released by the small intestine when finish digesting food for a little while (

By blocking the DPP-4 it leaves the pancreas turned on/producing insulin a little longer than it would have otherwise to deal with a bit more blood sugar, before it turns off the insulin tap

Nothing to do with the vascular or nervous systems, so shouldn't effect the heart

Unless it's some kind of allergic reaction causing an epinephrine (adrenaline) dump which is speeding up the heart (???? - pure guess on my part)
