How Can I Manage Stubborn Yeast Infection. Is It Possible That My Partner Does Not Have It Because He Does Not Have Any Symptoms.

A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭
South Africa Nelspruit

I am 41 years old and have Type 2 diabetes since 2010. I am taking oral medicine namely Forxiga 10mg , gliclazide 90mg, and Jalramet 50/1000mg. The struggle is on controlling the sugar level and the frequent hunger. I end up eating anything including starch. I am not a fan of meat and tired of it. Foodwise my options are limited. I feel stuck with starch food. Members, How are you managing?

Managing a stubborn yeast infection, especially if you have diabetes, involves several steps:

1. Medical Treatment:
- Topical or Oral Medications: Some medications are available over the counter, while others require a prescription. For severe or recurring infections, long-term therapy may be necessary.
- Boric Acid Capsules: For extremely resistant infections, boric acid capsules may be prescribed for vaginal insertion. Never swallow these capsules as it can be life-threatening.

2. Home Remedies:
- Low-Carb Yogurt: Contains active cultures that can help ward off yeast growth.
- Apple Cider Vinegar: Some members apply it on a cotton ball for skin yeast infections, but always consult your doctor before trying home remedies.

3. Preventive Measures:
- Keep Skin Folds Clean and Dry: This can help prevent infections in areas like the lower abdomen.

Regarding your partner, it is possible for them to be asymptomatic. Yeast infections can be present without showing symptoms, so it's important for both partners to be aware and possibly get checked if one partner has a persistent infection.

Always consult your doctor for personalized advice and treatment options.
