I have type 2, and before I was diagnosed I was already wearing glasses for years (can't see far, my night vision is low, and sometimes I can't read small characters or things get blurry).

Standard protocol at least in Ontario Canada where I live is "once a year" which is paid for by our Provincial Health Care (public) Plan if you have Diabetes

And it should be an Ophthalmologist, not simply an Optometrist at most quickie glasses places
