Has Anyone Ever Used The Supplement White Kidney Bean Extract To Help Lower Their Blood Sugar? What Results Did You See?

I have begun taking this supplement 1200 mg with a meal having 30 or more carbs. I am hopeful that it may be of help to me.

Hi @A DiabetesTeam Member - I did a database search for studies involving WKBE (the extract) and Diabetes specifically and it doesn't look like it was specifically tested for "diabetic value" but rather as a "weight loss" supplement

The way it (seems) to work (and I'm not a researcher, doctor etc, so this is just a laymans read on the results), the supplement works in a similar way to others like Apple Cider Vinegar in that it "inhibits" the uptake/digestion of Carbs

From a weight management perspective that is valuable

Most do not understand that it is fact CARBS that get turned into Body Fat, NOT FAT that we consume in our diets

So if we (digest) less carbs there is less "stuff" in our system to turn into body fat

Now, we can read in to that - if there are less carbs getting into our blood then we will have less blood sugar to deal with, so absence of specific studies to measure BG results, this "should" provide a blood sugar benefit

In some of the (notes) on a couple of the studies while they noted "no change in Total Glucose Absorption" (if you eat a carb it is "eventually going to get into your blood stream") Peak Blood Sugar was effected as was Time to Glucose Normalization which is fancy words for "you won't spike as high or stay up there as long" compared to "not using" the product

Give it a go - it might make a bit, a lot or no difference to YOU

One of the joys of a Metabolic Disorder - what works for one, what one is deficient in compared to someone else etc is never the same from Diabetic to Diabetic

But certainly worth a try

Thanks so much Graham Lamb for all the research and information! Here are my recenr BS #s. 9-14 FBS 171 at 8 am, 1st meal 1 C chocolate cheerios with unsweetened almond milk other meds & 1 white kidney bean 1200 mg (WKB) 9:30 am. BS 139 at 1: 30 pm. BS at about 4 pm 95. Next meal approximately 1 cup chili before, beans, tomatoes 4 pm & 1 WKB pill. Before bed snacked on some walnuts, almonds & other mixed nuts. 2 WKB pills. 9-15 FBS 93 at 8: 30 am, breakfast cole slaw & small pork chop 9 am. BS 132 at 1 pm. about 2 cup same chili finished about 3 pm. I took 1 WKB pill with the chili. BS 162 at 5:30 pm. Evening meal about 8 pm raw carrots, cauliflower, cucumber, small pork chop, later some mixed nuts..no peanuts. 1 WKB pill. 9/16 BS 139 at 9:15 am. Running errands in town today. We will eat at the China Buffet and I will take 1 WKB pill. I do think the WKB supplement really does help my BS stay lower. I still am eating low carb, but more carbs than normal for me and my BS numbers are lower. I do not eat at regular hours and probably should. I will give more updates as I continue.
