A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question đź’

Im so Freaking Frustrated being a Type1 Diabetic!
Stuggling to loose weight is surreal!
Impossible if you have underactive Thyriod, Menapause, Rheumatoid Arthritis! Eating correctly, but the Insulin Resistance is insanely high making everything impossible...
Just had enough!

@A DiabetesTeam Member Have you tried a low carb diet? I also have a thyroid problem but I developed type 1 diabetes after the age of 30. Lowering carbs resulted in less insulin needs. I no longer get the glucose highs and lows and my glucose readings are pretty good. My last A1c was 5.6%. My vision, skin and concentration improved too. I’m just generally happier now because I don’t have to inject insulin with every meal or deal with glucose corrections after meals. I exercise without worrying that my glucose levels will plummet then I need to eat something. I honestly feel very liberated.

It’s not easy at first but the benefits are all worth it. I also listened to a couple of Dr’ s online and Diabetes platforms that talk about managing Diabetes with a low carb diet. Most of the Dr’s and speakers are Type 1 diabetics too or parents of Type 1 diabetics. 1. Look up Dr. Bernstein the author of the Diabetes Solution. He’s been diabetic for 72 years and still practising as a Physician in his 90’s. 2. A YouTube channel titled “Low carb under”, it has real life medical examples and lectures. 3. Dr Shawn Baker on YouTube also a Type 1 Diabetic but he is more carnivore. 4. Dr Rob Cywes (South African), practising in the states the channel is called, “The Carb Addiction Doctor”. He isn’t a Diabetic but speaks about a low carb life style and using it a treatment measure instead of surgery. He is a Bariatric Surgeon and weight loss Dr. 5. Dr Eric Westman channel name,” Adapt your life”. He is also an Obesity Specialist.

Anyone who is diabetic regardless of the type of diabetes can gain a lot of free knowledge from these Dr’s. I’ve spent an entire year listening to them and I’ve seen all the health improvements.

Lastly, have you seen a Functional Medicine Doctor? I didn’t know I had vitamin deficiencies and a thyroid problem till I saw one. Now all my thyroid autoimmune problems are gone! But I obviously take my meds and prescribed vitamins. I’m so glad I don’t have to deal with debilitating joint pains , anxiety, depression and brain fog anymore!

Please do your own research and see what works for you but I’m so glad all my autoimmune Drama has calmed down and I wish you all the best.

Sending you lots of love and strength.
