Type 2 diabetes mellitus without complications means that, at the time of diagnosis, there were no immediate or obvious complications related to diabetes, such as severe kidney damage, eye problems, or nerve damage. However, diabetes can lead to complications over time if not managed properly.

Normal Glucose Levels:
- Fasting Blood Glucose: 70-99 mg/dL
- Postprandial (after eating) Blood Glucose: Less than 140 mg/dL

Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c):
- Normal HbA1c: Below 5.7%
- Prediabetes: 5.7% to 6.4%
- Diabetes: 6.5% or higher

How to Know Your HbA1c:
- Blood Test: Your healthcare provider will perform a blood test to measure your HbA1c level, which reflects your average blood sugar levels over the past 2-3 months.

Complications:
- Kidney Issues: Chronic kidney disease is a common complication of diabetes.
- Fatty Liver Disease: Type 2 diabetes is often associated with fatty liver disease, which can progress to more severe liver conditions.

Managing Complications:
- Regular Monitoring: Regular check-ups and lab tests are crucial.
- Lifestyle Changes: Maintaining a healthy weight, diet, and exercise can improve symptoms.
- Medications: Follow your healthcare provider's recommendations for managing blood sugar and other conditions.
