Any Recommendations On A Good, And Less Painfully, Finger Trucker. I'm Using An NHS TrueDraw And It Hurts! I'm Going On Insulin Next Week
The omnipod is supposed to be awesome
I'm in Scotland where only type 1 and members of SNP (joke) get CGM's. I'll look into buying a softclix.
Thanks
When I finger stick I use an Accu-Chek SoftClix with a 0.4" (28) lancing needle
According to Diabetes U.K. (quote) If you have type 2 diabetes, live in England or Wales and use insulin two or more times a day, you should be offered a flash glucose monitor (Freestyle Libre) to help you check your blood sugar levels if any of the below apply, say NICE guidelines. (unquote)
So you should ask your Doc about a Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM) then you don't "stick" to check your blood sugar, just swap the sensor every 10 or 14 days depending on the brand/model you use and it checks your blood sugar "every minute 24 hours a day, 7 days a week" - you always know exactly what your blood sugar is doing and will quickly alert you if you got an accidental insulin overdose
If your current finger pricker is causing pain, consider these tips for a less painful experience:
1. Use a lancet device with adjustable depth settings to minimize skin penetration
2. Choose a lancet with a higher gauge number (thinner needle).
3. Prick the side of your fingertip, not the pad, as it hurts less.

Did You Know That Diabetics Should Never Prick The Tops Of Their Fingers, But Only The Sides Of Fingers, To Prevent Nerve Damage.
