I limit my beans to less than a tablespoon per meal. Since I prepare it there is no sugar.

Chili can be part of a diabetes-friendly diet, but its impact on blood sugar depends on the ingredients. Beans, a common chili ingredient, are high in fiber and protein but also contain carbohydrates, which can raise blood sugar.
