Is The New Freestyle Libre 2 "accurate"?

A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

For those that have been using CGM's for a while we are all aware that sometimes they seem to be measuring "someone else's blood" when we scan compared to our Stick Tests

First a few general comments

There is three basic methods available today to measure Blood Sugar levels

There is the "lab test" where they suck blood right out of vein in our arm, an SMBG test (self monitor blood glucose test - aka "stick test") or there is CGM (subdivided into continuous or flash) glucose scan of sugar… read more

I have been using the Freestyle Libre 2for a few months and I am very pleased with the results I get and happy that I don’t have to prick my fingers anymore! I believe that the readings are very accurate!

If your sensor is saying 2.8 it's most certainly reading "way low" and should be replaced

Of course you would stick test to confirm and if it's totally out of whack just call customer service and they will replace it

If you notice on the reader if there is an indication that the sensor may be reading "wrong" you will get that little "blood drop" symbol with a magnifying glass icon beside the reading - that is telling you "do a stick test" to compare

I am on my fourth sensor I believe and it reads what my poking meter reads or a number or two off.. but within one or two numbers.. I love mine since hardly any poking my fingers. Since Christmas I think I can count on one hand how many times I have had to poke my finger to see if my readings were on the right track.

My meter tends to lose signal in the same room I am in with my meter but not often.

@A DiabetesTeam Member I'm not sure I'm following you

In range is in range

I set my minimum/maximum range (in the scanner settings) and it alarms if I go out of that to let me know - as long as I stay in that range 90% of the time it will translate into my target A1C range

A "normal" reading is always "in a range" not a specific number

Maybe I'm missing your point????
