My Question Is About Oatmeal
With the colder weather coming (I hope) I was thinking about Oatmeal. I noticed on the Steel Cut Oatmeal for 1/3 of a cup it is 31 gr. of carbs with 4 g of fibre. Does anyone know that 1/3 of a cup is that when it is already cooked or is that the measurement before cooking......thank you.
Love oatmeal. Always add cinnamon to mine.
@A DiabetesTeam Member I don't see your answer anywhere. Thanks for the add- I read and liked your story. I also baked all my life (too much) and had to stop that. I tried the substitute almond flours, etc, a couple times-probably will try again this winter.
I made the steel cut oats a lot last winter. If I recall correctly, I had to watch the number of carbs I ate for the rest of the day though-as I was doing REAL low carbs back then. I've been able to ease up on the carb limits some though and now aim for 130 daily (at least try). I remember when I used to (years ago) occasionally put a big scoop of ice-cream on top of my big bowl of regular oatmeal for breakfast! Oh, my!
I have to get out and water my garden and help my hubby check out the gutters-definitely a two-"man" job these days. Maybe we can "talk food" some time. Toodles!
The 1/3 C is uncooked.
Hi Becky.....I hope you got my answer, please let me know if you didn't.
@A DiabetesTeam Member Hm...interesting.....My container of Irish style steel cut oatmeal lists a serving size as 1/4 cup (40g) dry. I thought these things were standard. Are you getting your info from a diet app or the product itself? Which serving is correct? I'd put my money on the product listing.
