Hi @A DiabetesTeam Member, and @A DiabetesTeam Member, and all you warriors.

Water can dilute the blood glucose in your blood a bit.

Exercise can lower most people's blood glucose numbers.

But the trick is not to add to and raise your blood glucose numbers by what you eat.

Cut out all added sugars in food and drink.

Slowly cut back your carbs.

Normal nondiabetic numbers are 4.0(72) to 7.8(140).

I eat to my blood glucose meter, my blood glucose numbers spreadsheet, and my food journal.

They tell me what foods I can eat somewhat freely, what foods I must limit, and what foods I must almost totally avoid.

I maintain my numbers to TITR, time in tight range, 4.0(72) to 7.8(140).

This arrests diabetes complications and comorbidities right where they are now. It stops all additional cumulative vascular damage from glucose spikes.

I am almost 15 years into this, since I started drinking 150-250 ounces of water daily. Every year at my annual physical, I asked my primary care physician if he would test me for diabetes. He said that I did not have diabetes.

He retired just before covid, and I didn't see my new doctor till February 2021. When making my appointment I asked for bloodwork, to also include an A1C and PSA.

Of course I am with diabetes now.

I have an appointment next month to see a foot doctor, podiatrist, for the first time. I need to get a baseline.

Talking to Dr Frank, I realize he is proactive and doesn't want to deal with diabetes foot problems. He would rather get ahead of the curve and prevent them.

Someone I want on my side.

My meals usually include protein, high fiber, very low net carb vegetables and almost no other carbs.

My tools tell me I am limited to 5 net carbs per meal, 15-20 net carbs daily.

Some Protein can quickly be converted to glucose when needed. I do what is needed.

I will never give up, never surrender, never ever.
You got this.
Have a wonderful day.

No food brings down sugar numbers

Eating fat does not raise numbers

Eating protein has minimal to no effect on blood sugar numbers "when consumed" (protein can be converted to blood sugar by the body but it is a more involved process that is available to the body "if needed" but not automatic)

Eating carbohydrates raises blood sugar levels

If your blood sugar is high the only thing you can really consume to help put downward pressure is either "water" or some other zero calorie drink.

Fluids are readily absorbed into the blood stream and as long as they haven't contributed anymore (sugar) to your system they will dilute your blood sugar lowering your overall number

If your real question instead is, "what can I eat that has less effect on my blood sugar", since we all have to eat, that is an entirely different and far more complicated question

Type 2 is a metabolic disorder and just because I can safely eat "X" and keep good numbers does not mean you can

How you digest, progression of disease, hormones that respond and a hundred other factors determine what is "safe for you"

Henry @A DiabetesTeam Member and myself see similar blood sugar numbers yet I consume at least 4 or 5 times as many carbohydrates as he does which shows the extreme difference in reaction to consumed carbs between two otherwise similar people - and in this case I have had diabetes somewhat longer than he has - there is no "one size fits all answer"

WATER…and more WATER..and even more WATER….

Not recommended IF you’re using it to bring down glucose; but recommended if you’re attempting to stabilize/synthesize glucose.
