My resting heart rate went up from 70 to over 90. Taking .5 mg. for 6 months.

Hi I take Ozempic & haven't noticed my heart rate increase. I do get occasional palpitations, but that is not unusual for me. Maybe mention to your doctor. 💚

Thank you Graham. I will discuss this with my diabetes doctor at my next visit.
This is very useful information.

@A DiabetesTeam Member here is a piece from the clinical trials

It looks like about 1 in 4 (during the trial) saw an increase of about 20 beats per minute on their pulse at least in the weight loss trials for Ozempic

So it (was) "typical" at least in the trial group and obviously the regulators (FDA) didn't see it as enough of an issue to stop the stuff from hitting the market

Here's the piece: A mean increase in heart rate of 2 to 3 beats per minute (bpm) was reported in clinical trials for type 2 diabetes. In weight loss clinical trials, a mean increase in resting heart rate of 1 to 4 bpm was observed. Maximal changes from baseline at any visit of 10 to 19 bpm (41% vs 34% placebo) and 20 bpm (26% vs 16% placebo) were recorded. In weight loss clinical trials, Hypotension and orthostatic hypotension were more frequently seen in patients on concomitant antihypertensive therapy. Some reactions were related to gastrointestinal reactions and associated volume loss.

Thank you again Graham for your explanation of ozempic and heart disease. I should have done more research before starting this medication.

Thank you Amanda and Graham. I did talk to my cardiologist and she prescribed 100 mg beta blocker. Did not help. HR still fast.
Will ask my endocrinologist how to stop taking ozempic as he was the doctor who prescribed it.

I’m just curious if others are in the same boat.
