This Morning's Blood Sugar Was 173! Last Night I Had Eggs And A Salad. Salad Had Tomatoes, Carrots, Olives And Lettuce, W/ranch Dressing.

Dressing supposedly has only 1 carb for 2 tablespoons. I had three tablespoons. Last night I didn't sleep my best, only about 6 hours. What could have caused the high blood sugar reading?

What was your 2 hour number

Morning (fasting) blood sugar is not about what you ate the day/night before

If it was more than 4 or 5 hours after eating then the sugar came from your Liver

Unless you are producing no insulin within a few hours after eating all "that sugar" has been dealt with and your Liver takes over the job of keeping everything "fueled up"

If you have persistent high fasting sugars then you need to medicate because it has little/nothing to do with what you are eating, it is a sign that either your metabolism is really messed up (might be fixable) or that your diabetes has progressed so far that you need supplemental insulin

The first step is always Metformin (increased to the maximum dose over time) and if that isn't enough then you start using a Basil (long acting) Insulin

But don't try and connect your morning numbers to what you ate the day/night before - one has nothing to do with the other in almost all cases

I don't routinely check my blood sugar throughout the day, as I don't take insulin. I'm taking Metformin and Farxiga for diabetes. Therefore, I didn't check it at the 2 hour interval. I did go for a 5 mile walk, which I did in 1 hour, 23 minutes. So, I'm sure some sugar was used up.
