Who Uses A Food/health Journal Either Paper Or Online? What Do You Keep Track Of? Do You Find It Helpful? Thank You!
I use an A5 day to page diary.Food, meds, appointments, and any thing else I need to remember.I use different colour inks to make records.
I guess I should start tracking.
I don't actually count my carbs anymore, but I know what to eat and how much by now.( I've been diabetic for 12 years.) I DO write down everything I eat and check my blood at least once a day. My morning readings are always higher than any other. Today I was 147 which , for me, is low for a morning reading.
I use a spreadsheet - each day has it's own sheet
I track calories/fat/sat fat/trans fat/sodium/carbs/fiber and protein
I "plug" the food I eat (individual items) into my daily consumption list and it provides a running total so that say after Lunch I "know" how many calories/carbs I have left "today" so I don't over-eat and I don't consume more than my daily carb allowance
And "Everything" that contains even a single calorie (so everything other than water) goes on the list because even a coffee with 1 cream is 40 calories and 1 carb so a few a day starts to add up
Hi JennyFrench...thank God we are all different in every way. Since I am a caregiver to my daughter, husband and myself, I have 3 spinal cord surgeries and 2 fractures L4 and L5. I don't have the time to have a journal. I believe that having a journal its a great idea.
But in my case I just remembered the "NO list" and don't overdo anything of what you're supposed to eat.
Hopefully you will get answers from other diabetic patients here.
Have a blessed day 🙏.
