Neuropathy and Diabetes Read Article...

Diabetic Neuropathy is the leading cause and burning feet is usually the First or Second "symptom" (along with pins/needles sensation or slight numbness)

Best to consult with your Doctor and if it is Neuropathy this is your body telling you that if you don't want it to get worse you need to get a little more serious with your blood sugar control

You don't have to be "very high" for very long for Neuropathy to start setting in and you really don't want it to progress because it ends up with surgeons cutting parts of you "off" if it gets to latter stages

I agree with GrahamLamb on this. I have nueropathy in my feet. Please consult you're provider. There are things to help with burning. Getting those numbers to a better place helps.
