Did Anybody Know That Today, 17 May Is World Hypertension Day????

I didn't - must be slipping up

Most of us aren't simply Diabetic (or a person with diabetes if you prefer) but rather we have Metabolic Syndrome

That is any 2 of:

Type 2 Diabetes
Hypertension
High Cholesterol
High Triglycerides
BMI Greater than 30

And just about ALL of US had at least two on that list when we got the Membership Card to the Dead Pancreas Society

So that means a good number of us, myself included, have/had/are currently taking meds for Hypertension in the form of ACE… read more

I did not know it was Hypertension Day. I’ve lost 28 # and my sugar is good so is my blood pressure most of the time. Not on med for cholesterol trying with diet. A good majority of my day is devoted to taking care of myself. It to hot in Arizona to do anything else….

Yep @A DiabetesTeam Member no sooner did i get my Type 1 diagnosis it wasnt long after i ended up with Hypothyroidism, high pressure and cholesterol which I was told the cholesterol meds is more of a preventative measure since i did go off at one time only to be told not long after that after 15 years of my diagnosis at the time there was a red flag on my file at the pharmacy n that was the medication i was on for my cholesterl that i should be on it continuously since it also helps to protect my heart form complications of go figure sooo ive been back on it ever since and no more red flags showing up on my file at the pharmacy. My BMI was much higher before off and on over the years but not im good but that all depends on what you read online some say i should weigh no more then 102 i think it was to 120 it varies depends on what i read about it n from which web site. I dont follow that anymore i would look like a walking skeleton no thanks. A bit of meat on ones bones is fine as long as its nothing too extreme lol....😆PS and when i was diagnosed i was not over weight at all nor did I eat a lot of sugar or carbs....just saying....

I actually did not know there was such a thing as World Hypertension day. As a bonus feature to my diabetes I take meds for hypertension and cholesterol. Ah for the old days when all I had to worry about on my DOT physical was being under 140/90 on my blood pressure. Now I have to be under 8.5 on my A1C as well. It used to be 10. As the old joke goes if I had known I was going to live this long I would've taken better care of myself
