Hi @A DiabetesTeam Member,
I take 200 mg of ubiquinol CoQ10 daily.

I also take 5,000 units D3 daily. And that brings me to the bottom of the accepted scale. Except when I am stressed by a vaccination or illness. Then I have to take 10,000 units daily just to get to the bottom of the scale.
-----------------------------
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) supplements may help treat muscle side effects from statins because statins can lower the body's levels of CoQ10. CoQ10 is an antioxidant that cells need to make energy. Some researchers suggest that low levels of CoQ10 can lead to muscle aches, weakness, and fatigue, and as levels drop, the side effects of statins increase. However, not all evidence agrees that taking CoQ10 supplements will help.

CoQ10 supplements are available over-the-counter at most pharmacies under the names "ubiquinone" or "ubiquinol". Ubiquinol tends to be better absorbed than ubiquinone. The ideal dose is typically 200 mg once per day.

Good luck.
Consult your doctor and your pharmacist.

If you are experiencing muscle pain and suspect it may be the Statin, your Doc can add another blood test to your typical lab draws

There is a test that checks for something called "Creatinine Kinase" which is a form of muscle waste that can indicate "damage to the muscle"

In Ontario it is now standard screening for all new Statin prescriptions - the patient "should be" tested 6 to 12 weeks after starting the prescription and the Doc should discontinue use (find an alternative) if C.K. levels are elevated

So if you have never had a C.K. test and are on a Statin AND experiencing any kind of chronic muscle weakness/pain/discomfort, ask your Doc about adding the test - at least you will both know if it's the Statin or a sore muscle or nerve issue

Thank you all tremendously for your @A DiabetesTeam Member I take 10,000 IU of Vitamin D daily. My Dr,and I discussed the benefits, and risks. I did purchase some CoQ10, as I have been on stations for 10 years. Absolutely talk to your Dr. or Pharmacist before starting any new medication, even OTC or supplements,as they may reduce the effectiveness of your prescribed medication.
