What do you mean pain "around" your eyes?

Eye problems related specifically to diabetes do not usually result in "pain" but rather loss or partial loss of vision (macular degeneration/retinopathy) or increased incidence of cataracts

Neither condition is painful

But while your Doc told you "not to worry", you should ask what (they) think the cause might be that you don't have to worry about...
